A juvenile green sea turtle named Sweet Pea found her forever home at the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center Thursday morning. With frigid temperatures outside, she swam through the warm water of her new home’s pool upon her on her arrival from the Gulfarium CARE Center.
“Sweet Pea is known as our miracle survivor,” Meredith Horn, director of marketing and communications for the Gulfarium said.
Sweet Pea was rescued Aug. 26, 2016 in poor shape. She was badly entangled in fishing line that left her left side nearly immobile. Her left front flipper could not be saved and her back left flipper is paralyzed, although the care team has noticed some twitching in the flipper which may be a good sign.
“She was a mess when she was brought to us,” Horn said. “But she has done very well and we are excited that she has a forever home at the center.”
