Navarre suffers OT loss to Gulf Breeze

With a little over five minutes left in the opening half of Friday night’s rivalry game against Gulf Breeze, Navarre had a double-digit lead.

It appeared the Raiders were on their way to their biggest win of the season.

By the end of the regulation, the game was tied, the Raiders and Eagles headed to overtime to decide the outcome.

That’s where everything changed. The Raiders struggled in the extra session and fell 73-66.

“We didn’t do well in the overtime. We had some key guys foul out. It was hard to overcome,” Navarre head coach Terry Posey said.

Louis Carter tied the game  at 54-54 with 25 seconds left in regulation.

Navarre never got on track in the OT, losing to the Dolphins for the second time this season.

The locker room, as expected, was silent after the game. Posey stood around waiting for his team to finish packing up for the short trip back down Highway 98 to Navarre.

The effort, as usual, was there for the Raiders (4-12), who have played a good number of their opponents close this season, losing four games by less than 10 points and two in OT.
