Practice has ended and a big week is ahead for Navarre’s boys basketball team.
A few players are still in the gym shooting around the Monday afternoon before school resumes, including senior Louis Carter. A little extra work never hurts, especially for a team in a much better place than it was a season ago.
The Raiders won only three games during the 2018-19 campaign and were 2-11 through their first 13 games. It’s a different story this season as Navarre headed into the week with an 8-5 mark.
“It’s good. We’re much better than we were last year,” Carter said.
Indeed, the Raiders are. They have won three consecutive games, including a 56-46 victory over Pace Friday night, and their success is a credit in part to the work they put in after last season ended.
“Their offseason workouts have paid off. They did a lot of running and work in the weight room,” Navarre head coach Terry Posey said. “They are also a year older and a year wiser.”
