Navarre’s dream of a postseason bid is over. The Raiders learned early Sunday morning that they won’t be in the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season.
The Raiders entered the week in seventh in the playoff poll but ended up jumped by Chiles, which was ninth going into the week. Crestview, a team Navarre crushed 52-14 a week ago and has lost two in a row, is the eighth seed despite a 5-5 record.
Navarre ends its season at 6-4.
Losing three consecutive games for the first time in a decade at one point this year, the Raiders, at 3-3, faced an uphill climb.
But they went on to win three of their next four games, including their last two, catapulting themselves into contention.
A five day stretch late in October helped the Raiders. Their Oct. 18 game against Leon in Tallahassee was postponed because of a tropical storm threat. They played the Lions that Monday and held on for a 31-28 win.
Four days later, Navarre faced a Crestview team as hot as anyone in the area, the winners of four in a row. But the Raiders put together their most impressive performance of the year in that game.
Navarre had a bye this past week and awaited its fate. Despite not getting in, the Raiders finish with a winning record for the eighth consecutive season.
