Senior defender Cami Acevedo was wrapped up by a Maclay defender more than once Saturday afternoon as she battled for control in Navarre’s season opener against the Marauders.
She expected a physical game. And the Raiders got it, but they still prevailed, notching a 2-1 win at the NYSA Soccer Complex.
“They are really aggressive and a handsy team, but we battled well, holding our own and holding them off,” Acevedo said.
Navarre had been off a week since playing a pair of preseason games. It was up against one of the better teams out of Tallahassee.
