Navarre Beach Utility to suspend late fees, service cutoffs

Following the example of several water utilities in the region, Santa Rosa County Commissioners will consider suspending late fees and cutoffs for Navarre Beach Utility customers impacted by COVID-19.

The suspension of late fees and cutoffs of service would include bills issued from April 15 to July 15. Two months of non-payment would normally result in a cutoff of service.

Many vacation rental companies on the beach have been unable to do business due to executive orders from the state. Employees have been laid off and furloughed from all types of business. Local small businesses, including restaurants, have been closed due to the previous beach closure.

Commissioners will vote on the issue Thursday, May 14, during their regular meeting at 9 a.m. in the board room at 6495 Caroline Street in Milton.

Members of the public may attend the meeting, but space will be limited due to COVID-19 concerns. Comments may also be submitted online, and the meeting is streamed live.
