Navarre won its first two games of the summer baseball season.
The Raiders defeated Escambia Tuesday and knocked Gulf Breeze Wednesday.
Against the rival Dolphins, Ethan Andre’s hit up the middle in the fifth inning allowed Tyler England to jog across for the game-winning run in Navarre’s 4-3 victory.
The offense showed up early for Navarre against Gulf Breeze starter Tyler Walkup, with the Raiders putting up three runs in the first three innings.
The Dolphins tagged left-handed pitcher Jacob Mason for three runs – finally catching up to his nasty off-speed pitches – all in the fifth inning. Then the Raiders trotted out Andrew McTamney to close the books.
Although the baseball team is just a few weeks removed from its last official game of the 2019 season, head coach Jon Boddy is assessing players for the 2020 squad.
“The goal of summer ball is experience and to give us an idea (of players) heading into next year,” he said.
