Gov. Rick Scott issued the following memo directing the flags fly at half-staff:
On Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, an accident involving two Special Tactics Airmen occurred on Eglin Range during military freefall training. As a result of this accident Tech Sergeant Timothy A. Officer, Jr., 32, and Tech Sergeant Marty B. Bettelyoun, 35, lost their lives. The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces faithfully serve our country with bravery and honor. Ann and I join all Floridians and Americans as we pray for the families of these two airmen and all of those who serve in our nation’s military.
As a mark of respect for the service members who lost their lives in the accident, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the City Halls of all cities in Okaloosa County, the County Courthouse in Okaloosa County, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, from sunrise to sunset on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015.
