The Navarre community rallied together Saturday morning to welcome Marine Sgt. Anthony McDaniel and his family to their new home in Navarre.
McDaniel, who lost both legs and his left hand serving in Kajaki, Afghanistan, received a newly built house from Homes for Our Troops, a national nonprofit that builds mortgage-free, specially adapted homes to severely wounded veterans.
Escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders and the American Legion Riders, McDaniel received a hero’s welcome during the key ceremony, which included his family and friends from Georgia and Mississippi, as well as state and local officials.
“I’m at a loss for words,” McDaniel said from his new backyard. “This is amazing, not just for myself, but for my whole family.”
