The Air Force announced Monday a personnel reduction plan that amounts to 3,500 jobs being cut over the next five years. The good news locally is that only 22 positions are expected to be lost at Hurlburt Field. In contrast, 742 positions are being cut at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia.
The Air Force released its plans to save $1.6 billion under a Defense Department directive to cut its costs and staff by at least 20 percent.
