Local residents are used to spotting military aircraft along the Emerald Coast, but starting April 28, they may see some that don’t look too familiar. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) is hosting Emerald Warrior, an annual joint training exercise, from April 28 through May 9.
According to AFSOC, Emerald Warrior includes personnel and equipment from all services and will be conducted on ranges in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and New Mexico.
For the first time, the MQ-9 Reaper from Cannon Air Force Base will participate in the exercise. It is a large remotely piloted aircraft.
