“When the going gets tough, the tough get going,” and that is exactly what Nathan Harris did when he learned of the tragic death of seven Marines, all of whom he knew, on March 10 off the shores of Navarre.
Two months after the accident, Harris traveled from North Carolina to Navarre, taking time off from his full-time job to start planning a memorial ruck march to mark the anniversary of the accident. The 780-mile march will begin on Navarre Beach and end at Camp LeJuene in North Carolina, the home of the elite MARSOC unit that the seven fallen Marines were a part of. Twelve teams of two, consisting of 24 Marines and sailors affiliated with MARSOC, will march continuously with a constant team of two on the road at all times.
