Lauren Miller claps her hands together and shouts words of encouragement from the bench. Even with the odds stacked against Navarre in a showdown with county rival Gulf Breeze earlier this season, Miller does all she can to keep her Raider teammates as upbeat as possible.
It’s not the easiest thing to do. Especially on the road.
“When you are down and there isn’t a lot of energy in the gym, it’s hard. You do what you can to bring energy from the bench,” Miller said.
It’s something she prides herself on.
“I do it all the time, whether I’m in the game or not,” Miller said. “I’m always making sure I encourage my teammates.”
Miller saw playing time for the Raiders in their three-set loss to the Dolphins, a match decided by the scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-19.
Typically, the Raiders feel a little overwhelmed by Gulf Breeze. Not this time, despite what the scoreboard said.
