During April’s storms and flooding, the local Veterans of Foreign War, Post 11367, lost its shed when a pine tree fell on it.
The shed housed extra chairs and items for the post, as well as wheelchairs and clothing that the VFW’s Ladies Auxiliary collects to help local veterans and their families.
“It was a good shed that was there. That one over there is falling on its own,” Paul Revere, VFW member said.
But the VFW is nothing if not resourceful, and the damaged shed would soon be a thing of the past.
The post managed to track down a $5,000 grant Home Depot awards to community nonprofit organizations to “improve the physical health of their community,” according to the company’s website.
