Santa Rosa County Tourism Director Julie Morgan applied for the same position last December in Walton County, where the job pays roughly twice her current $68,000 a year.
“I’m not unhappy,” said Morgan, who was among the unsuccessful finalists for the Walton job, told the Navarre Press. Morgan said she hasn’t applied for other jobs and has no plans to do so.
The Walton County job opened last fall after the previous tourism director, Jim Baby, resigned. He was paid $134,000 a year, Morgan said.
Morgan said she felt comfortable applying for the new job in part because she had occasionally participated in various tourism-related conferences with officials from other Northwest Florida counties, including Walton.
