Martina Sternberg was in the waiting room of an optometrist’s office when law enforcement called her with heartbreaking news. Her 22-year-old son had been killed in a car accident.
At the time, she was accompanying her mother, who had late-stage Alzheimer’s. With her was her 1-year-old grandson, who now had no father.
