Santa Rosa shelter stops breed discrimination

Dogs in the frequently crowded Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter will no longer be assessed on suspected breed but rather temperament Emergency Management Director Brad Baker announced Monday after meetings with rescue groups.

“Repeatedly the breed discrimination issue was thrown up, so we are updating our policy, not listing specific breeds by basing adoption policy and decisions on the temperament of the animal,” he said.
