Red tide one of the worst in 60-plus years

Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Scientist Kate Hubbard is asked often just how bad the current Red Tide plaguing Southwest Florida really is.

In some ways, it seems like the worst ever. The dead sea life, including manatees, dolphins and sea turtles, as well as the declaration of a state of emergency by Governor Rick Scott last week, makes it seem like Red Tide has never been worse in the Sunshine State.
