It was the war he couldn’t wait to fight. Patrick McCrary wanted to be in Vietnam.
“I dropped out of high school to join because I was afraid I was going to miss out on the war,” McCrary said. “I wanted to hurry up and get into the Marines.”
But time shapes opinions. A new picture is painted of the way certain events in life are viewed.
Reflecting on the war nearly 50 years later, the Pace resident and Purple Heart recipient still takes pride in having served his country.
