According to a Florida Department of Transportation notice, drivers on U.S. Highway 98 in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola will encounter intermittent and alternating lane closures approaching the Pensacola Bay Bridge from 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4. In addition, all U.S. 98 travel lanes between 17th Avenue in Pensacola and Fairpoint Drive in Gulf Breeze will be closed for approximately 30 minutes between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. The restrictions and temporary closure is necessary as workers relocate a construction crane from the west side of U.S. 98 to the east side. Traffic flaggers will be on site to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
