Cody James Gomez of Villa Court in Navarre was arrested Sept. 7 for his role in a March 23 shooting on Shoreview Court off East Bay Boulevard.
According to the arrest affidavit issued by the State Attorney’s Office, March 23 Gomez and his accomplice Jonalbert Vidal went to the victim’s home around noon to buy marijuana. Before midnight, the two returned to the victim’s home in a white four door car Vidal was driving. The victim went outside to deliver the marijuana but Gomez wanted it to be weighed. Vidal followed the victim inside to weigh the purchase. While in the process of weighing the marijuana, the victim says he was shot in the face by Vidal.
Vidal and Gomez left and the victim went next door to seek help. While at the neighbor’s house, the victim saw the two return to the house and look through the windows before leaving again.
Vidal was arrested at his Hilltop Road, Mary Esther address March 27 and is charged with attempted homicide and robbery. He is being held on $500,000 bond. Gomez was present at the time of Vidal’s arrest, and was arrested on an active out-of-county warrant. Now, he is charged with second degree attempted homicide and attempted burglary with a firearm. He is being held on $200,000 bond.
