Navarre Beach Fire Rescue fell just 13 votes shy in the Oct. 8 election of its goal to move forward with creating a special fire district on the beach.
“Disappointing” has become a descriptor for the results among the fire company’s leadership. As board member John Lewis points out, the ballot measure’s defeat means the company is one step further away from gaining access to multiple state funding sources.
