The long and winding road to citizenship for one Navarre resident

There were 75 citizen candidates at the Nov. 18 Naturalization Ceremony held in the National Naval Aviation Museum. Navarre resident, Marta Harsha, took a very different path before raising her hand to take the Allegiance Oath.

“My mom was a gymnast and my dad was a silver medalist in the 1976 Olympics held in Montreal. He competed in the canoe event for Poland,” Harsha said. “After the Olympics, he was offered a job coaching for Canada. I was seven years old when my family moved to Canada.”
