Santa Rosa County Commissioners declared Wednesday, Jan. 11, Addison Russell Day in honor of the Pace native’s success as a major league baseball infielder for the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs won their first World Series in 108 years with Russell hitting a grand slam in the sixth game of the series. After the ceremony, Russell signed autographs and chatted with fans. He will celebrate his 23rd birthday Jan. 23.
