Brian Kelly has a strong background in the financial world and now he’ll have a chance to use that experience in Navarre.
Kelly was elected to the Holley-Navarre Water System Board last week, the only new person to earn a seat on the board. He will serve a one-year term and head up the water board’s finance committee.
“I was asked if I would be interested in running and at first I said I had to think about it,” Kelly said. “But I decided to do it. I saw it as an opportunity to bring my Wall Street experience to the local level.”
Kelly works in Pensacola and oversees the collective efforts of Hallmark Capital Partners. He is the former managing director of HCP, Inc., where he worked as a consultant in several roles to help clients with their efforts to raise Private Equity.
He has also worked as the Chief Executive Officer of LFS, Inc., and has worked at three of the top investment banking and security firms in the world at UBS, Wachovia and CIBC World Markets.
Kelly plans to take a look at the numbers involving the golf course which is used not only for golf but for spray fields as well for the water department.
He also wants to find ways to help generate new business in town.
“Our tap fees are very high and I am not sure why they are that way,” Kelly said. “We need to find ways to make it more affordable for businesses to come in, such as spreading out the payments.”
Kelly can’t wait to get started.
“I’m excited about the opportunity,” Kelly said. I’m a team player and I want to be able to do what is best for Navarre.”
