Navarre was a very different community 40 years ago. In a lot of ways it was barely a community at all. In a way Navarre was simply the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and State Road 87 with a few homes nearby.
There was not a traffic light, a school, a postal code or even a bridge out to the beach. Ira Mae Bruce was here back then.
“Navarre was a tiny community with only a few small family businesses,” she said.
