The Holley-Navarre Fire District hosted a 50th anniversary celebration today at Station 45, located behind the Winn-Dixie shopping center. “We want to honor those who long ago began the Holley-Navarre Fire District and those who continue to serve the residents of this community,” Chief Ron Norton said during his opening remarks.
The ceremony that opened the festivities was complete with the Santa Rosa County Professional Firefighters Association Honor Guard to present the colors for the Pledge of Allegiance. Kids were treated to bounce houses, fire hats, and were able to climb in the trucks.
In a special demonstration, the firefighters demonstrated an extrication of a simulated patient from a vehicle while Life Guard Air Ambulance landed in the field next to the station to airlift the patient to a nearby hospital.
On Oct. 10, Holley-Navarre Fire District will have its annual Fall Festival at Navarre United Methodist Church in honor of National Fire Prevention month.
