A Gulf Breeze teenager was hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash on Highway 98 during the peak of rush hour traffic Friday evening.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Michael Spain was driving his vehicle westbound near Skylark Road when he drove off the right side of the road. Spain then over corrected to the left and entered back onto Highway 98, and then back to the right striking a guardrail. His vehicle rolled several times and Spain was ejected from the vehicle.
Westbound traffic on Highway 98 was backed up for several miles at about 6 p.m., while personnel from Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Florosa Fire Department, Okaloosa EMS and the Florida Highway Patrol secured the scene.
Spain was charged with careless driving.
