A Gulf Breeze man has been chosen to receive a Carnegie Medal for the heroism he showed when he crashed through the door of a burning home to save a disabled woman trapped inside.
David Hammond pulled his tenant, Stephanie Wright, from the burning house on July 28, 2016. Wright has multiple sclerosis and needed a wheelchair to get around. Hammond has since received a medal of honor from the city of Gulf Breeze as well as media attention for his actions.
