After several years of careful planning, Gulf Power will be able to deliver lower rates to customers starting in January of 2017.
Earlier this month the Florida Public Service Commission approved the Atlanta-based company’s request to decrease customer’s bills by $4.63, reducing the average bill from $148.64 to $144.01.
“We have been able to reduce costs specifically associated with the fuel we use to generate energy in our plants,” said Natalie Smith, a communications specialist for Gulf Power. “We passed along to customers the price decrease, which will begin in January because we were able to take advantage of lower natural gas and coal prices.”
