God’s big work done in a tiny place

Belgium is known for three Cs: coffee, chocolate and cheese.

Christ is not high on the list, said Navarre First Assembly of God Pastor John Skipper. Church member Fred Aylstock said the area is devoid of evangelical worship.

“You have heard of Europe being the ‘Dark Continent,’” he said. “Well statistically they say there are about 1 percent of evangelical Christians…It has become a secular society. They tolerate Christianity, but they certainly don’t encourage it.”

But Skipper said Aylstock and a group from the church has made a move to add that fourth C to Belgium’s list.

The church building in Botassart, Belgium, has changed several times in its 200-year history. The Navarre missionaries worked to continue converting the building to provide evangelical services and to house future missionaries.
