Santa Rosa County Sheriff Wendell Hall is in his fourth year of frying up fish for the fish fry the Holley Navarre Senior Center puts on as a fundraiser.
“It’s a great fundraiser and they deserve it,” Hall said. “They’ve done a lot for us in their lives. We owe them something back.”
Hall and several others started preparing the meal at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning and Sheriff-elect Bob Johnson, who will be the first sheriff from Navarre in department history, was outside helping out.
He doesn’t mind doing it all but is looking forward to the role reversal at next year’s fish fry.
“I usually batter all of the fish and dip it in the sauce. I get it ready for (Sheriff Hall) to fry,” Johnson said. “That will change next year. Next time, I’ll have him batter it. He’ll have to do all of the work.”
