Longtime Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce member Ralph Agnew helped spearhead an effort to have the Florida Department of Transportation do a traffic analysis in areas along U.S. Highway 98 that, as Agnew states, “have been prone to accidents for years.”
FDOT recently responded with its recommendations for locations on the highway – Biscayne Boulevard, Palmetto Lake Drive, Prado Street and Luneta Street — that have median openings.
A total 109 accidents have taken place at the four locations over the past five years, including 50 on Prado Street. There were 22 crashes on Luneta Street, 21 on Palmetto Lake Drive and 16 on Biscayne Boulevard.
