Full of life and passionate about what they do, the Silver Wahoos savor the opportunity to perform at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola.
This dance group out of Pensacola, which is part of the Senior Follies, is in its second year of entertaining baseball fans with short routines before every Wednesday night home game.
Here on this muggy evening in August the Silver Wahoos have cold drinks in their hands and smiles on their faces as they talk about the enjoyment they get from being able to perform at games.
“It’s all about getting together and having fun,” Patricia Statam said. “We have a great time and laugh a lot. Laughter is definitely the best medicine.”
There is plenty of laughter to go around as the members of the group joke with each other in a variety of ways.
As Tana Varner talks about her experience with the Silver Wahoos, someone interjects with a question after pointing out that Varner has been with the Clicking Cloggers, another group under the Senior Follies umbrella, for more than 30 years.
“How old are you now Tana?” Jan Harnish asks with a laugh.
Varner responds quickly.
“I’m 57. I’m just barely old enough to be in this group.”
All joking aside, Varner said being with the Silver Wahoos is something she enjoys a great deal.
