Susan Czekanski remembers the first time she walked into the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Fort Walton Beach. She almost walked right back out.
“I came in here and then when they went back to get one of the instructors, I started to walk out,” Czekanski said. “I wasn’t sure if this was the right thing to do. I was wondering what the heck I was doing, but (staying) turned out to be one of the best things I ever did.”
Widowed after 46 years of marriage, the Shalimar resident turned to learning ballroom dancing as a way to her help move on from the passing of her husband.
