Volunteers with Navarre First Assembly of God handed out more than 28,000 pounds of produce and 35 turkeys with all the fixings Monday, Nov. 20, during the church’s seventh annual Crop Drop.
People from all walks of life, poor or rich, unemployed or gainfully employed, were invited to take grocery bags loaded down with farm fresh green beans, sweet potatoes and bell peppers, free of charge.
Pastor Jonathan Skipper explained that the produce was donated by farmers in the Destin area. The church rented a moving van that was used to pick up the produce and was then unloaded in the parking lot as cars drove up to grab their lot.
