An event of potentially epic proportions for Navarre, Country on the Sound, fell short of the imagined goals set by event planner and owner of Navarre Water Sports, Greg Britton. But overall, he and others were pleased with how the first-year event turned out. “We couldn’t have asked for better talent or a better group of people to work with,” Britton said.
Britton began planning Country on the Sound in May with local singer-songwriter Cortni Bird. While attending the Country Music Awards Festival, the two began tossing ideas for who would perform at the inaugural event set for September. “Trace Adkins was the first choice because of his ties to the military. And Big and Rich are just awesome performers who really get the crowd involved,” Britton added. Britton then hired AStar Promotions to produce the event and hire the talent, and the team was set. They encountered obstacles along the way, but Britton referred to them as learning experiences with their own value.
