World War II was part of an era in American history that is slowly being forgotten.
Alfred Wickliffe has never forgotten. Even at the age of 92, he vividly remembers what it was like to fight in a war that ended 70 years ago.
He reflected on those days during an interview last week, discussing the bombing missions he flew in Italy. His words opened a window to the past.
“For me, it’s hard to get emotional now about the war. It happened so long ago,” Wickliffe said. “It was a real wild experience but hard for me to personalize at this stage in my life.”
