Around 20 projects are being nominated for a list of initiatives for Santa Rosa County Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) plan. Next month LMS Task Force members are set to prioritize those projects, which could be funded through the Hazard Mitigation
Grant Program (HMGP). After a major disaster declaration, in this case April’s flooding event, each declared county is given an allocation of HMGP funds based on total disaster figures. County Grants Director Sheila Harris says approved projects will be submitted to the state but the Federal Emergency Management Agency will ultimately make funding approval.
