Relay’s low turnout doesn’t dim spirit

Relay for Life Navarre took place at the high school Saturday afternoon, and while the event raised close to $64,000, turnout was less than stellar.

This year’s Relay took place from noon to midnight, rather than Friday night into Saturday, which some blamed for the lack of participation. The event also faced some tough competition, including the Kentucky Derby, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, the Pensacola Crawfish Festival and the Sunset Stampede.

But that didn’t stop this year’s walkers from enjoying themselves while raising money and awareness for cancer.
