Twelve-year-old Chloe Channell has a process when it comes to writing music. It involves a checklist of all the things she wants in her song and then checking off each item, one by one.
“I just go outside to the side of my house and I have my guitar and first I get a melody going. Then I’ll just start popping out words and then I make a checklist of what I want and check it,” Channell said, adding that the song’s title usually comes last.
Channell has been writing songs she hopes to include on a record she is recording in Nashville, Tennessee, with country music star and mentor Billy Dean.
