Navy veteran Dennis Del Rosario is the newest member of the Midway Fire District after he was sworn in at the Oct. 14 meeting.
Rosario was joined by his wife, Donna, one of his sons, his parents, and several firefighters when he took his oath Tuesday night.
Rosario was hired to fill a vacancy created when Hunter Lawson, a U.S. Air Force reservist, deployed last month. Lawson’s position is funded by a grant that requires it to be filled by a veteran, Midway Fire Chief Jonathan Kanzigg said.
“We’ve known Dennis for a while,” Kanzigg said. “He went to our fire academy years ago. He was a Navy veteran. He’s been working at the Pace Fire Department since 2009. So he does bring some experience to the table coming to us.”
