Middle school chefs

DSC_6636Parents got to sample more than a dozen student-chef-created culinary delights at Holley-Navarre Middle School Monday night as part of the school’s Family Fest event.

“Students had to prepare and bring a dish from home for a cooking competition that highlights healthy alternatives,” said HNMS Dean Pete Della Ratta. “Many students came up with their own recipes or had parents’ help in creating a healthy dish.”

The event also featured smoothie and food tasting stations. Debbie Price, with the Florida Department of Health, was at the school taking students’ blood pressure and explaining the health benefits of a balanced diet.
