The developers of a planned 134-unit condominium complex on a private parcel in Navarre Beach Marine Park have spurned a proposal by opponents to trade the land for a plot outside the public recreation area.
“The county property that they (opponents) are suggesting just won’t work for us,” said Ron Ward, a Pensacola-based developer. “None of the county’s land on the west side of the pier has Gulf access, which our parcel does – and it’s essential to our plans.”
Gulf access is available through an adjoining part of the park.
Santa Rosa County owns parcels west of the pier on Navarre Beach totaling about 600 acres.
Ward responded to a reporter about an alternative advocated by the “Save Navarre Beach” group, led by Navarre resident Nancy Forester.
