The Gulf Breeze City Council voted unanimously Monday to begin negotiations for the renovation of the Tiger Point Golf Course Clubhouse and Pro Shop. The city will negotiate a contract with architectural firm Bay Design Associates, Inc. for the design and construction management of the renovation.
“We had some communication with the architects and they feel comfortable with going to the area and getting an idea of what they want to do and presenting that at a workshop,” said City Manager Edwin “Buz” Eddy. “They’ll come up with their ideas and we can adjust those as we go.”
Purchased by the city in November 2012 for $2.8 million, the golf course had been losing money during its first year of operation. In December 2013, a golf club management and consulting firm presented a renovation plan to city council that would potentially make the course more profitable over time. The estimated cost was $3.2 million. Read more in the March 6 issue of Navarre Press or subscribe online.
