The Holley Navarre Fire District approved a $1,489,967 budget Sept. 22 at their monthly meeting. The budget will fund prevention initiatives, equipment purchases, training and, most notably, an Opticom Emergency Vehicle Preparation system.
Opticom is an infrared system that allows emergency vehicles to communicate with traffic signals and request a green light. The detector can receive and validate the emitter’s request far enough in advance to allow the light to change colors naturally.
