A former Santa Rosa County man is facing 10 capitol felony counts of sexual battery on a child under 10 years old after being extradited from West Virginia, according to a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office news release. Kent W. Edwards, 58, was arrested after the juvenile victim came forward detailing repeated sexual abuse to detectives that occurred back in 2008 in Santa Rosa County. Since that time, Edwards had been living in West Virginia.
The investigation ultimately led to a signed arrest warrant by a Judge and Edwards was arrested in West Virginia Dec. 30. He arrived at the Santa Rosa County Jail Jan. 7 after the extradition process. Detectives obtained enough evidence to charge Edwards with 10 counts of sexual battery on a victim under 10 years old and five counts of lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim less than 16 years old. He is being held without bond. Read more in the January 16 issue of Navarre Press or subscribe online at www.navarrepress.com/subscribe.
