The Navarre High School Raider Band had plenty to celebrate last week when Dr. Joel Rudman, of Holley Navarre Medical Clinic, donated $10,000 toward new uniforms.
Band Director Dean Barrow said the current uniforms – which are nine years old – have seen better days, and he and his students kicked off a fundraiser to purchase new ones next year.
Rudman’s daughter, Megan, is a first-year band student, and when he heard about the fundraiser, he tried to garner community support and made his donation.
“When you’re involved in something this big,” Rudman said, referring to the Raider Band, “people care and are invested in it. Having the community behind them means they’re invested in these kids.”
