Dog Days brings communities together

As Jojo dipped her head in the kiddie pool to cool off from Saturday’s 90-something degree day, her mom, Margaret Wallek, considered bringing home a brother or sister.

The 60-pound Lab/golden retriever mix took a liking to Brutus, a 167-pound black Great Dane, and the two made an interesting pair.

Brutus wasn’t the only dog available for adoption at the fourth annual Dog Days of Summer, which took place at Gulf Breeze Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

With around 40 vendors, the event, organized by the Dog Days of Summer Foundation, is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
