Change is coming at Holley Navarre Senior Center

Holley Navarre Senior Center board member Regena Berry and newly appointed president Bill Slovenz will be helping to direct the senior center through coming changes.

There has been a reshuffling of a large portion of the board at the Holley-Navarre Senior Center, and part of that shuffle has put Bill Slovenz as the interim president of the board.

While Slovenz said he was surprised by the appointment, he said he is ready to bring a new attitude and new programming to the center. He said the senior center fulfills an important need.

“It is a camaraderie of like souls – in other words, we’re all old souls,” he said. “There are many things here that are fun. In addition, there are many things here that are challenging. It allows the members the opportunity to continue to grow.”

He said that constant growth and learning is vital.

“There are people who reach this age who consider themselves to be entitled. They sit down and do nothing. It is difficult to do that in this organization. There is too much to be done,” he said. “This is not a country club.”
